5 Steps to Bring Attention to Your Self at Your Heart

October 10, 2011 by Pranada Comtois Leave a Comment

This simple process can take as little as a few seconds. When you first begin it may take longer as you become accustomed to the steps. The more you practice, the quicker you will be able to seat your attention on your Self in the heart. In fact with practice, we can quickly dip down for guidance while walking, driving, riding the subway, a horse or a tractor. But initially give yourself sacred time to become familiar with your Self in your Conscious Heart.

1. Settle yourself into a comfortable position. Allow your breath to flow naturally and settle you further into your growing comfort.

2. Gently begin breathing into the area of your heart. You may place one or both hands over your heart, if that helps to bring your attention to the area.

3. Feel or hear your heart’s beat. This is usually the only organ we can perceive in this manner, pumping as it is with electricity and blood. This is the seat of individual consciousness, the place from where all the energy of our body is generated.

3. If you find yourself trying to focus your eyes at your heart, let them relax where they belong–in your head. You’re not trying to see with your eyes. You will be seeing with your conscious heart.

4. As you continue breathing into your heart and feeling its rhythm, you’ll notice the mind settles. As you continue to feel your breath around your heart, your breathing becomes more relaxed. You feel more comfort.

5. Once your awareness focuses on your physical heart in this way, visualize your Self as a sentient Being, a particle of spirit, gently resting on the airs in the vicinity of the physical heart. There is no need to visualize an exact form and what it looks like. Focus on where this spiritual being resides.

Notice your heart beating again. It is beating because your Self is seated there. When it comes time for you to leave, your heart will stop beating. Your spiritual Self is steady and safe, completely separate from the physical vehicle and engulfed by spiritual energy.

If you choose, visualize your Soul sitting next to SuperSoul, God in the heart.

When you arrive this way at your heart, you can begin any number of meditations, ask questions, listen for answers, give your Self love, ask for insights, make offerings to the Divine, or speak with him. There are no limitations to the experiences you have in your heart, or the ways you can consciously direct association with your genuine Self and God there.

The more you associate with your spiritual Self, while you visit the heart, or remember your place there, the more like that genuine Self you become in your waking life.
